Supporting Producers, Landholders, and Communities to Achieve Organic Integrity under AS 6000:2015
Empowering everyday Australians — from small producers to suburban landholders — to manage their land and food production according to Australia’s only public (verified) organic standard.
About the Initiative
The Empower Organic Certification Program helps people and communities become independently certified to the Australian Standard AS 6000:2015 – Organic and Biodynamic Products.
Our mission is to make organic certification transparent, affordable, and accessible for:
- Farmers and producers
- Local cooperatives and food processors
- Homeowners, residents, and community land managers
Whether you grow food, keep bees, manage a backyard garden, or care for public green space — you can be part of a national movement toward chemical-free, regenerative land care.
Two Pathways to Certification
🌾 Organic Producer Certification
For farmers, market gardeners, food processors, and primary producers.
Participants learn how to:
- Align operations with AS 6000:2015
- Maintain organic integrity from soil to sale
- Develop compliant record-keeping systems
- Prepare for independent audit or recognition
🏡 Organic Land Management Certification
For residents, body corporates, councils, and community groups who wish to maintain their land according to organic principles.
This certification recognises:
- Organic property maintenance (no synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, Genetically Modified Organisim (GMO)’s or products thereof.
- Soil health improvement and biodiversity practices
- Composting, water conservation, and habitat care
- Neighbourhood resilience and local food security
Both certifications uphold the Australian Standard AS 6000:2015, ensuring that all participants — large or small — operate under the same transparent national standard.

Why This Matters
Australia has a strong organic reputation globally — yet few people realise there is a publicly available national standard for organics recognised by the ACCC.
Most (other) certification schemes are privately run or suitable for export only and costly to access.
This initiative brings organic management back into the hands of the people — empowering local action, improving environmental outcomes, and restoring trust in organic integrity and labelling.
